Where We Learn Through Play

Mickey’s World Philosophy

The backbone of any Service is the Philosophy, this document guides educators on practices, families on our goals & standards and the greater community on what makes our Service unique. We aim to provide a secure home like atmosphere in a warm and positive environment.

We would like the children to feel that Mickey’s World is like their “Second” homes. As we are family grouped for most of the day, siblings who come here have the opportunity to be together. At Mickey’s world our philosophy guides our approach to providing care and education for every child, supported by dedicated and caring educators. It is based on the belief that families and educators can work in partnership to support the child’s desire to learn, discover and express themselves. Through our program we acknowledge the NSW Curriculum Framework and the National Early Years Learning framework, with specific emphasis on play based learning and recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development. We believe that childhood is a journey not a race, we encourage active exploration, inquiry and we value creativity and diversity. The staff at Mickey’s world work together as a team to provide and maintain a friendly, caring, clean, welcoming and stimulating environment where children are free to explore and learn through play and with our safe surroundings.

We aim to create an indoor and outdoor environment that is natural, inviting and meaningful. It is with our daily journal that we regularly document the children’s discussions and activities through photography and written word. Mickey’s world understands and recognises that families are crucial in the philosophy and by listening to, and understanding the needs of children, families, educators and the community, we are constantly evolving our approach to provide the best possible outcome for each child. Our staffs are active in building a strong rapport with parents on the care and education of their child. This is done through various communication methods. We believe that children are individuals and are treated equally regardless of race, religion, economy, circumstances, beliefs and attitudes or special needs. Children with developmental delays or disabilities and their families are valued, accepted and integrated into our centre. We endeavour to communicate with and use community resources and professional organizations for families who may need extra assistance.
